Facts and questions about using, installing and preparing for your Hide a Hinge™ hidden door hardware.

Q: Will this work on a preexisting doorway to cover it or will it get in the way of the existing door, door hinges or door knob?

A: Yes, generally speaking Hide a Hinge™ will work on most doorways where the door is located in such a matter that it opens away from you which should be the case for any door enetering a room, closet, bathroom or any other room in a typical house.

 

Q: Do I have to install Hide a Hinge on the right side or the left side?

A: Hide a Hinge can be installed on either side of a doorframe or raw (new construction framing).

 

Q: Wont the doorway covering (furniture etc) run into the existing trim on the doorway?

A: No. Hide a Hinge has been designed to deal with this issue and many others.  Hide a Hinge is capable of covering small and large  preexisting door casing or trim to create a natural look that doesnt elude to anything behind it.

 

Q: Would mounting the hinge like that meen there were screws going into drywall?

A: No.  Hide a hinge has been designed with the mounting shifted away from the edge of the door frame so it only goes into wood and creat a solid base to hinge off of.

 

Q: What dimensions of framing should the anchors for the hidden hinge be mounted into?

A: Sometimes you will encounter only a single 2”x4” behind door frames and while you can anchor these hinges into a single stud the weight capacity will be significantly diminished.  We recommend atleast 2 studs back to back to anchor the hinges into. Heavy duty stainless steel ¼ screws that are 4.5” long are provided to anchor into the framing and the anchors for the movable object will be situation specific generally but ¼” x 2” heavy duty stainless steel panhead wood screws are provided with every hinge for attaching to a single 2” thick mount (generally a single stud 1.5”x3.5” and “¼ thick backing and ¼” aluminum bracket.

 

Q: How much weight can each hinge hold?

A: We arent sure! We have never broken one! Initial tests have shown it can candle atleast 1 ton of dynamic load!
